What don't you try showing some of that humility Obama displayed? This is just one of the many reasons you earned the name " Paulie the Parrot."

You have a nice life and I'll see you in the next one.....But then maybe not!

Re: Congratulations to Barack Obama

PatrickPete -

Barack is certainly an inspirational story and it's exciting to see his impact.

Long live the American dream.

Re: Congratulations to Barack Obama

Shawn,
Can't say I agreed with your viewpoints, but I respected how you ran your blog. Its what makes this country what it is. I spent 2.5 years in Cuba and was in the military for 10 years, so I know how awesome this country is. Everyone in the world cannot say what is on their mind, especially politically and be protected as opposed to oppressed by the government.

What I didn't know as an African American is just how authentic, we, the American people really are. How this country truly is a reflection of the ideals of our founding fathers, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that ALL men are created equal". As someone who is African American, I had become somewhat cynical about that ideal. Now I cannot.

My goal now is to deal with those within my culture to realize Obama's election is not an opportunity for us to get excited about what we won't have to do, but to get excited about the work to be done. Everybody is getting excited, but many of us need to realize that we are in a "no excuses" mode within our community (the African American community). I wonder who we will call the man, "holdin us down", now?

In one night, the belief that anyone in America can be and do anything they want if they just roll up their sleeves and get to work has now been proven unequivocally. ANYONE, regardless of their race who does not believe that to be the case is a fool. This is the GREATEST country in the world, PERIOD.

Re: Congratulations to Barack Obama

Congratulations Mr. Obama! I think you've shown how the American dream can be achieved in a very modern and new way. Your Obama 2.0 is the proof how Web 2.0 technologies can work to unite people!

Again congratulations and good luck in all your coming challenges to get America to the next level. I personally hope that under your leadership America will become a more 'open' leader in the world. In The Netherlands everyone seems to be loving you, I truly hope that you can use this kind of support from abroad to strengthen your policy.

Cheers!

Ha Vo

Re: Congratulations to Barack Obama

I understand your point but I do more than just post it, I walk it. So I won't call you any names as you just did. And no, I'm not Larry, I just post under this name.

Hard fought election, McCain was gracious in his concession speech. Think Obama will make a good President, lots of work to do but he's a smart guy and will surround himself with good people. Hopefully (I think he will) he'll bring people together and get things done. And that will be good for all of us. Very historic night.

Re: Congratulations to Barack Obama

Looking more like 5%, but yep nice mandate. I know Bush actually lost the popular vote in 2000 and won by 2.5% in 2004.

Re: Congratulations to Barack Obama

Ping me by email.

Re: Congratulations to Barack Obama

Shawn,

2010 is the start back.

I'll be in Vegas.

I need a mentor. Congratulations to Obama. It's time for him to run a muck with a 3% popular vote mandate. I'm gearing up for 2012...

Re: Congratulations to Barack Obama

Hey Shawn,

I second that emotion. Congratulations to Obama! I hope he can deliver the right response for this country.

One thing that is for sure , "LarryThe TruthTeller" and "Jonathan aka Paulie the Parrot"
are the same. What they(HE) need to do though is to start learning how to practice that "Love that Obama talks about." I'm quite sure they (He) will not understand my point.

Shawn,

To You Sir, Thank You for creating this blog. I understand why you did and it's very much appreciated.

BTW, I relocate to South Padre Island tomorrow because of Hurricane Ike. I'm sure you remember. I'll be in touch.

Just maybe Cory Booker will be the next President!
